In the 16th century he wrote the first book in the language of the Pashtuns. He was fluent in Ormuri his mother tongue , Pushtu, Arabic and Persian. Ormuri is the first language of the people in Kaniguram ; and many are bilingual in the local Pashto dialect of Wazirwola. Most also can converse in Urdu and some in English. Bayazid Khan pir of kaniguram —popularly known as Pir Roshan—became known for his thinking with its strong Sufi influences, radical for the times and unusual for the region.

The deaths were the first of Canada's war in Afghanistan , and the first in a combat zone since the Korean War. F pilots Major William Umbach and his wingman Major Harry Schmidt were returning to their base after a hour night patrol. The fire was actually from a Canadian Forces anti-tank and machine-gun exercise, which was taking place on a former Taliban firing range. Schmidt descended a few thousand feet to take a closer look, and asked for permission to "lay down some 20 mike-mike", or spray the area with millimeter cannon fire, but was told to stand by. Umbach cautioned his wing man to wait, as well. At , the pilots' AWACS controller ordered them to "hold fire" and asked Schmidt for more information on the surface-to-air fire.

The 'friendly fire' incident has been described by Afghan officials as an accident due to bad coordination. The early morning strike took place in Logar province's district of Baraki Barak, about 30 miles east of Kabul, according to Afghan provincial army commander Abdul Razaq.
At 11pm on the night of April 3, , Bibi Sahra was woken by a group of armed soldiers storming into her family home. The year-old, from the village of Qala Taqai in Baraki Barak district, recounted how the door of the bedroom was kicked in and half-a-dozen Afghan army soldiers in camouflage gear entered. A voice booming out over a loudspeaker warned everyone not to move.
